David Shook (Shook Sings) grew up in the small farm town of Calipatria in Southern California. His musical influences growing up ranged from James Galway to Simon & Garfunkel.
He and his family now attend and serve at Joshua Springs Calvary Chapel in Yucca Valley, California.
During the Covid pandemic, he was inspired by a quote during a message at church, “We are no longer on a cruise ship, we are on a battleship”. Shook Sings developed the vision for “Warship Worship”; the warship being a refuge and safe haven for those looking for spiritual inspiration, by writing music.
Sparked by the vision for the Warship Album, Shook reached out to fellow musician, Michael Mucklow, about recording some music together and that’s when things really developed. Merging Christian scripture with the Americana genre, the collaboration has been such a blessing and they look forward to more potential projects that aim to reach those in need.
The Warship vision has gifted over $1800 in tuition and living expense scholarships for Calvary Bible Institute students.
Shook thanks his wife, Sara, of over 20 years and his three children; Emma, Jack and Reid for being supportive and loving and members of the worship team for teaching him valuable lessons.
